To graduate with the designation of “Honors Scholar,” an HDFS student must meet the following requirements:

Be accepted into the University Honors-in-the-Major Program in HDFS

Complete a minimum of 15 credits of upper-division honors courses in HDFS, including:

  • HDFS 291H - Honors Proseminar
    (spring semester of sophomore or junior year - 1 credit)
  • HDFS 297H - Honors Thesis PreparationSeminar
    (fall semester of senior year - 2 credits)
  • At least one HDFS 300-level course
  • HDFS 299H - Individual Study with your thesis supervisor
    (1st semester of senior year - 3 credits)
  • HDFS 296H - Thesis Writing with your thesis supervisor
    (final semester of senior year- 3 credits)

Complete and submit a Senior Honors Thesis that meets departmental standards for creativity and rigor

Maintain an overall GPA of 3.2 and a GPA of 3.5 in the major
