Our Learning Community

MFT students"We are all wonderful resources for each other.  The days of competitive course work are over, and as Master’s students we thrive off each other’s knowledge and different abilities.  We have become a family, each with our own roles, strengths and weaknesses, and we learn and build off each other.”  -Lindsay Betzendahl

"There is constant opportunity to work with other students and faculty in ways that promote scholarship and personal and professional development in this program. The program is structured to encourage collaboration, and it is the strongest learning community in which I have ever worked."
– Erika London

Our masters and doctoral programs rely on students and faculty coming together in active ways to form creative learning communities.  Students enter the MFT program with valuable educational, professional, and lived experience to share with faculty, supervisors, and student colleagues.  We strive to create space for the exchange of diverse ideas in ways that honor each learner’s culture and lived experience, and to promote an open, reflective training environment in which self-awareness can be facilitated and used to further the relationship between therapist and client. As a learning community we study, apply, and critique existing MFT field knowledge.  We also collaborate to produce knowledge through research and the development of innovative ideas.

Committed to the well-being and healthy development of individuals and families over the full span of life.
