School Attendance

The Center is currently working on a project aimed at improving school attendance. The project is funded by the State of Connecticut Office of Policy and Management (OPM), and it involves evaluation of school attendance programs within Willimantic, Stonington , Thompson, and Ansonia school systems. As part of this project, Center staff provide periodic group and on-site individual consultation sessions to each of the four school systems. These consultations focus on assisting programs in refining their program evaluation plans, deciding on the evaluation data to be collected, defining the role of the Centeras outside evaluator, reviewing evaluation results, and assessing needed changes in the strategies used to improve school attendance. Additionally, Center staff work on entering pre-test and post-test data completed by students in each of the four school programs and statistically analyzing data to assess the effectiveness of school attendance programs.
